About

Designer Maria Cicarelli, graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, has been creating since the age of five when her aunt gave her a needle and thread to keep her busy in their small apartment in downtown Buenos Aires. Since then, her love of textiles, architecture, art and nature have continued to inspire the creative style and flair of her one of a kind pieces.

Her collections focus on particular design elements, reflecting the texture and qualities of the seasons, with an underlying theme of "design in nature". The images are original works of art individually silk screened onto linen, cotton, faux suede or silk. She recently started a line of stainless steel and wood home accessories that incorporate nature and architecturally inspired cityscapes.

She has also done custom work as well as a few commissioned pieces for the Art Institute of Chicago, the Picasso Foundation, and the Chicago Botanical Gardens.

Her work can be purchased at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago,  Andersonville Galleria,  Citywoods in Highland Park and One of a Kind Show at the Merchandise Mart.

A percentage of all sales goes to Soroptimist of Chicago (https://www.simwr.org/) and Environment Illinois (https://environmentamerica.org/illinois/).
